Good morning, South Metro. We’ve officially hit that early-June stretch where the weather finally starts cooperating, school is almost out, and families are juggling concerts, graduations, end-of-school chaos, and baseball tournaments that somehow start before most coffee shops open. ⚾ ☕
In today’s South Metro Weekly:
Which restaurants in your neighborhood scored highly on their health inspections?
Is Lake Oswego getting that new downtown hotel? And if so, when?
And a cute little creature shows up at the Oregon Zoo.
Let’s get going… And welcome to your Monday, June 6! Only 15 days until Father’s Day.

Good News for Your Stomach: These South Metro Restaurants Earned Perfect Inspection Scores
🧼 🍔 The Oregon Health Authority and Clackamas County Health came a knocking in our area recently.

Good news for South Metro diners: recent Clackamas County health inspections showed strong performances from restaurants across Wilsonville, West Linn, and Lake Oswego, with nearly all businesses inspected receiving solid scores.
Several local favorites even earned perfect 100s — including Mocha Mango, Roxy’s Island Grill, San Blas Mexican Restaurant, and Market Cafe in Wilsonville; the McDonald’s on 8th Court and Sushi Hurray in West Linn; and Donut Days and Thai Basil in Lake Oswego. 🎉🎈
Health inspections evaluate everything from food storage and kitchen cleanliness to employee safety practices, and earning a perfect score takes consistent attention to detail behind the scenes. If you’re curious about your favorite local restaurant, you can browse full inspection reports anytime through the Health Inspection Portal.
Lake Oswego Hotel & Housing Project Delayed Again
The long-planned downtown project is still alive — but much like my Keto diet, the timeline keeps getting pushed back. 🕔

A long-discussed downtown Lake Oswego development featuring a hotel, apartments, shops, and restaurants is facing another delay as developers continue working to secure financing.
This week, the Lake Oswego City Council approved a revised timeline for the “North Anchor” project, which has been in the works since 2019. The location would include be several blocks along B Avenue between State St and Second.
Under the updated plan, the apartment and mixed-use portion of the project could now be completed by 2029. The hotel portion remains less certain, with developers expected to provide a major financing update by the end of this year.
Our friends at the Lake Oswego Review have done a great job covering this.
Does the “S” in Sherwood Stand for Speed?
The city’s new speed cameras caught more than 1,000 drivers in just the first few days.

Drivers in Sherwood may want to check their speedometers a little more carefully this summer.
The city’s new automated speed cameras are already working overtime, with more than 1,000 speeding violations reportedly recorded just days after the system went live near Lower Roy Street and Pacific Highway.
Sherwood police say the goal is safety, especially along some of the city’s busiest roads. But judging by the early numbers, plenty of drivers may have missed the memo — or at least the speed limit signs.

🚗 Worth The Drive / The Oregon Zoo has a new star resident: Enoki, a nearly 3-year-old red panda who recently arrived in Portland. Zoo staff say she’s quickly settling into her new habitat with plenty of climbing, snacking, and naps. Red pandas are endangered in the wild, making Enoki part of an important conservation program. Get your Zoo tickets here.
⛳ More Golf in Sherwood / The Back Nine Golf in Sherwood is adding a fourth bay for indoor golf fun. The bay will include a massage chair - which now that we think of it - real golf courses should have as well. More here.
🚦 Wilsonville I-5 Bridge Work / You’ll need some extra patience on I-5 in the overnight hours. ODOT says overnight construction work on the Boone Bridge could begin this month, with lane closures expected through the fall. The project will replace aging bridge components on one of the busiest commuter routes in the entire South Metro area. ODOT explained it here.
🗳️ Thinking About Running? / Candidate filing is now open for local City Council races across the South Metro area ahead of the November 2026 election. Several seats are opening in Lake Oswego and West Linn, and candidates have until August to officially file. Turns out “someone should really do something about that” may now require paperwork.

🐾 Every week, we’ll feature a local adoptable pet looking for a new couch, backyard, and human best friend. Some are playful, some are chill, and some probably have stronger opinions than your HOA board. This week’s featured furry friend is ready to meet you.

🐾 Meet Sadie — a 3-year-old shepherd mix with big ears, a big personality, and an even bigger love for treats. At around 67 pounds, Sadie is equal parts smart, loyal, playful, and cuddly. She enjoys hanging out with other respectful dogs, loves human attention, and would happily accept belly rubs as a full-time job. Snacks are also highly encouraged. 🍖
Sadie would do best with an active family that can give her regular exercise, structure, and room to stretch her legs. Because of her shepherd instincts, she’d likely thrive in a home with a yard and older kids who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs. 🐶 Sadie is currently available for adoption at the Clackamas Pet Shelter and would love to meet her future family.
