Good Morning, South Metro. Last Monday, I floated the idea of a South Metro Dinner Club—a chance to meet a few new people, try some great local restaurants, and maybe even keep the night going with an after-party.

Well… you approved it. Big time. More than 75% of you said you’d be interested in joining us.

South Metro Dinner Club is officially a go. More details coming soon.

  • ☄️ A Perseid meteor-viewing night at a Sherwood lavender farm

  • 📷 And rare John Lennon photos — with the woman who took them in Lake Oswego this weekend

🔨 New Tualatin Business Lets You Smash Stuff — and Helps Local Puppies!

Courtesy: Time Warner Digital

If you’ve ever looked at an old printer and thought, “You know what? You’ve had this coming,” Tualatin now has a place for that.

Rage Room Portland recently opened at 19475 SW 118th Avenue in Tualatin, giving guests a controlled place to smash bottles, electronics and other recyclable items — or add some axe throwing while they’re at it.

The business says it recycles 100% of its smashable materials, including glass and electronics, and a percentage of sales goes to Oregon Dog Rescue. Its Glass Hound program also works with local businesses to keep glass out of the waste stream.

Guests must be at least 10 years old, and minors need a parent or guardian present. No experience is needed; staff provide a safety briefing plus hard hats, face shields, coveralls and gloves. Closed-toe shoes are required.

The Tualatin location is inside Stickmen Brewing Company, so yes, you can smash an old TV and then go have a beer and pizza like a perfectly well-adjusted adult.

Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.

🔥 Wildfire Scams Are Making the Rounds As Oregonians step up to help communities affected by this summer’s wildfires, state emergency officials are warning that scammers may be trying to cash in too. Be cautious with unfamiliar online fundraisers, unsolicited “fire recovery” contractors and anyone asking for cash or sensitive personal information. Officials recommend verifying charities and contractors before handing over money — and remember, legitimate government disaster assistance and inspections are free.

💧 West Linn Is Asking Everyone to Ease Up on the Water With Clackamas River levels running low, West Linn, Oregon City and the South Fork Water Board have moved into a Stage 2 water curtailment alert. In West Linn, the city is limiting its own irrigation to overnight hours and asking residents to do the same — ideally between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. — when less water is lost to evaporation. The goal is to help protect river conditions for fish, not because the city is running short on water. Officials also say the move has nothing to do with the wildfires burning elsewhere in Oregon.

🌳 Canby Has a Brand-New Park Daphne Glen Park is officially open near N. Locust Street and NW 20th Avenue, giving families a new place to walk, play and spend some time outside. The city says the park is ready for visitors looking for anything from playground time to a quieter spot to relax. It’s another new green space for Canby — and just in time for the last stretch of summer.

🎯 Cornhole for Cash — and a Good Cause West Linn Saloon & Steakhouse is bringing its second annual cornhole tournament back to Willamette Park, with cash prizes, swag giveaways and a 50/50 raffle benefiting local first responders. Check-in begins at 11 a.m., with bags flying at noon. Entry is $20 per player, and you can bring a partner or sign up solo. Ready to toss some bags? Sign up here and claim your spot.

🤽 Water Polo Returns to Lake Oswego The third annual Oswego Lake Open Water Invitational is coming this weekend, bringing men’s and women’s teams from across the Pacific Northwest to a floating course in Lakewood Bay. Fans can watch from Millennium Plaza Park, with matches running Friday through Sunday and a youth exhibition game Friday at 4 p.m. A pretty great excuse to spend a summer afternoon by the lake.

🌿 100 Acres Near Sherwood Protected for Wildlife Metro has purchased 100 acres along the Tualatin River near Sherwood, linking existing natural areas into more than 550 acres of connected wildlife habitat. The $1.5 million purchase also protects about 1.5 miles of riverfront and could help improve water quality, reduce downstream flood risk and hold more water during dry periods. Restoration work will come next, including removing invasive plants.

🩺 Wellness Fair Comes to Downtown Lake Oswego The Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 2026 Wellness Fair this Thursday from 5–8 p.m. at Millennium Plaza Park. The free event will feature health, strength, wellness and sustainable-living exhibits, plus demonstrations — including AED and CPR demos from the Lake Oswego Fire Department.

If you could add ONE thing to the South Metro area, what would you want more of?

Vote below. We’ll share the results in Thursday’s edition of South Metro Weekly.

🐾 Each week, we introduce you to a local adoptable pet hoping to find the perfect South Metro home. Some are playful adventurers, some are champion couch warmers, and others are still figuring out the whole “living with humans” thing. They may have different personalities, but they all deserve a fresh start, a little patience and plenty of love. This week’s furry friend is ready to say hello.

🐶 Meet Pineapple, a bright, energetic young pup who is ready to find her people. At just under 2 years old, Pineapple loves fetch, puzzles, training and just about anything that keeps her brain and body busy. She’s also happy to settle in for some couch time once the fun is done. Pineapple has been friendly with other dogs at the shelter and would likely do best with an easygoing male dog who still likes to play. Because of her size and energy, she’d be happiest with older kids or adults.

This treat-motivated girl is looking for an active home that will keep the games, adventures and positive training coming.

You can learn more about Pineapple and find a time to meet her, here.

A warm and mostly sunny week ahead, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s through Thursday before climbing close to 90 on Friday. Overnight lows stay comfortable in the mid-to-upper 50s, with only a few clouds sneaking in Wednesday and Friday.

THANKS!

Great minds have purposes; others have wishes.
-Washington Irving

A final thought… Wishes are easy. Purpose asks something of us. It means deciding what matters, then taking the next step toward it — even when that step is small, inconvenient or a little uncertain. Most worthwhile things don’t happen because we hoped hard enough. They happen because, somewhere along the way, we decided to move from “wouldn’t it be nice” to “let’s make it happen.”

Make it happen this week.

See you Thursday morning!
